Swing Set Umbrella

She was sitting

Out on the swing set in her backyard

Rocking back and forth

Tears falling down her face

As she contemplated about the troubles of her life

The birds were chirping faintly in the distance

The air was cold

She used her hands to wipe her tears

As she always did

And then directed her focus up to the sky

It had started to rain

She stretched her hand out

From under the umbrella above the swing

Allowing the water to trickle down her fingers

She cried a little harder

Because the sky was crying with her

And it had been so long

Since she had felt so completely understood

In a world full of temporary things, you are a perpetual feeling.
